Les Copains

Near gut renovation of a 6 story converted townhouse in midtown Manhattan to house offices and showrooms for an Italian Fashion House, completed in 2003.
The building is part of a row of townhouses constructed in 1869, it got a new Beaux-Arts façade in 1911.
Since then the ground floor façade was altered and an addition made in the back as it was converted to commercial use for multiple tenants, many in the fashion industry.
Our project converted the building back to a single owner tenant use with showrooms on the lower floors and offices on the upper floors.
The rear extension was altered to better connect it to the main building creating larger showroom areas.
Toilet rooms, storage closets and mechanical equipment is located in the center of the building next to the stair.
The stair was reconfigured and opened up to bring light from the front and the rear to the center using new materials and design elements that unify the space from floor to floor without taking away the remaining historic details.
