Matisse Foundation

After closing the Matisse Gallery, Mrs. Matisse had moved into the floor through space as is, using it for her office and storage, but after her death and the creation of the Matisse Foundation it was clear that the space needed reorganization and upgrade to reflect the new function.
The existing partitions and systems were removed, new cooling system was installed and the heating improved.
The space was outfitted with all new wiring for internet and phones as well as all new lighting and finishes.
With new use allocations and mostly new furnishings the whole space was brought into active use allowing for both privacy and communication as desired.
Storage was increased with new shelving to match existing, new closets and file cabinets. The new furnishings are modern but with an affinity to the classic pieces kept from the original office and the art on display.
