Carmichael Loft

This loft is a condominium in a renovated historic building.
The client purchased the space after it had been designed with construction of the space on its way.
Because the commitment was made early on the sponsor agreed to make some changes.
The client appreciated the large open spaces but did not share the proposed design aesthetic.
We made some minor layout revisions but the main change was in the selection of the tile, light and plumbing fixtures and other finishes.
All three bathrooms have hand painted soft glazed tile with custom designs and murals, the lighting and plumbing fixtures and vanities are selected for their comfort and style.
The kitchen has bright blue lava stone counters that appear timeless with the modern cabinets.
The large expanse of the dark hardwood floor, was made even more lustrous by finishing it with tung oil.
The painting color palette is carefully selected to blend with the color scheme set by the handmade tiles and helps bring the light deep into the apartment.
Window treatments are simple shades and fabric panels, selected with the same criteria of soft colors and natural finishes that was the deciding factor in most of the other selections.
The furnishings are a mixture of new and existing that was reupholstered with fabric chosen for the space.
