McCabe Apartment

This apartment is in a recently constructed high rise apartment building with stunning views in three directions.
Since there had been only one previous owner the existing finishes were in good shape, and no change in layout of the spaces was needed. The apartment needed all new lighting, preparation and painting, cleaning and retouching of all other finishes as well as all new furnishings. With the views so dominant especially in the main living area and many of the windows low to the floor, we wanted to move the seating away from the window wall and bring the focus from the center to the exterior.
In keeping with the aesthetic of the existing construction the furniture and built in cabinetry is mostly modern, the color scheme simple and consistent throughout the apartment with focus on a few individual pieces of furniture, light fixtures and art.
The large inner foyer has polished venetian plaster finish to distinguish it from the rest of the apartment as the core that everything radiates from, housing an antique statue bought for the space in Italy.
The study has a custom cabinet home office with movable screens allowing the work area to be closed off when the space is used as a guest room, the master bedroom is spacious with a vintage as well as matching bedside tables and dresser and a comfortable easy chair in the modern yet luxurious style set by the living room furnishings.
The project was completed in 2010.
